Celebrating the 20th anniversary fo their album We're Already Gone, The Beautiful Girls hit Cairns and the crowd was ready for a good time.
One of the great things about going to gigs in Cairns is seeing all the fantastic local support bands and The Beautiful Girls show was no exception.
heyFever were the first local act and they were a trio of teen musicians but they approached the show like a group of seasoned pros, what a great opportunity for them.

Next up we had El Moth who brought a very Jazz Funkadelic groovy vibe to their set, which got the crowd moving and ready for the main act.

Mat Mchugh, the driving musical force behind The Beautiful Girls and his long time producer and friend Ian Pritchett saunter out onto stage to much clapping and cheering from the crowd and launch straight into the record We're Already Gone.

McHugh acknowledges part way through the show that perorming an album in its entirety is a difficult thing as often "there is one good song and then some shit songs" but this was firmly tongue in cheek as the album holds up so well after two decades.

The last 30 mins of the show was a bit of a greatest hits with a lot of crowd favourites like Periscopes and the finish of the show with La Mer was absolutely beautiful...with a full crowd particpation sing-a-long
